Facebook which is threatening democracy
First I couldn't get what it literally means but it was an interesting topic enough to grasp my attentnion. As I kept reading the script, it has become clear that the impact that social media companies give is way beyond the law of a nation(in this context i would say UK for an example). It's a serious issue to think about: that the power of controlling the information can change the history of a nation that have been struggled to keep their own rights.
Ignorance, of course, can be another reason while some assert that people are smart enough to discern the truth. But well, the ad on SNS is not just an ad. The journalist says "Democracy is not guaranteed, and it is not inevitable, and we have to fight and we have to win and we cannot let these tech companies have this unchecked power. It's up to us -- you, me and all of us. We are the ones who have to take back control. " This has made me to look back the 'unchecked power' of these tech companies as she mentioned.
